“Born in Brittany, in Fougères in 1955, Patrice Bourdin discovered painting at a very young age from his father, himself an artist. In 1993, he met Bernard Victoire, a pastel artist based in Lye in Indre, who introduced him to pastel, they worked together for several years. Simple and sincere expression of his emotions produced by the nature that surrounds him was also helped by his training as a Landscape gardner. Patrice is passionate about this medium which has become a major art form for him. It is difficult to resist the appeal exerted by the velvety matte finish of pastel. His subjects of inspiration are mainly landscapes, rivers, the sea, and old stones. In 2000, he created the Lye pastel school that has a growing list of students both beginners and experienced artists. He has also started pastel schools in Fougères and St Malo and teaches in La Rochelle, Aubigny sur Nère, Blois, Cour-Cheverny in Montignac (24) and Vocation Pastel (Voisin le Bretonneux). He currently lives in Gourdon in the Lot where he has his new workshop.”
